A message from the Governors

To our entire school community, staff, parents, carers, grandparents, a big welcome to the new academic year from the governors of The Schools of Woolton Hill federation. It is hard to believe we are already in the 3rd week of term, with all this lovely sunshine! It has been so good to see the children enjoying a return to relative normality at school. We are very mindful of the need to take ongoing Covid care, with extra ventilation and regular sanitising, but the importance of enabling year groups to be together at lunchtime or in assemblies, working with others in clubs and other school activities cannot be underestimated. The opportunity to welcome parents on-site, even if it is just to say hello, re-establishing the links between school and home is vital. Ensuring that parents are acquainted with the spaces and atmosphere that the children inhabit whilst with us is hugely beneficial to the overall school experience for all, and we really appreciate all that you are doing to help keep our community safe.

As is often the case at the start of a new school year, we have some new members of staff with us, and it has been great to be able to visit our schools and meet them across the last two weeks. During my visits it has been clear that our schools are abuzz with activity and energy, led by our Executive Headteacher, Paul Davies. The governors are also working hard to further establish our federation and one of our first tasks has been to re-launch our school websites. This work has been led by one of our governors, Mr Jonathan Walters, who I am sure you will agree has done a fantastic job! If you’ve not had a chance to go and look, please do! Thank you so much Jon, all your time and effort is much appreciated! Jon has also been working on our other marketing and communication channels including developing the Facebook page for St Thomas’, with more still to come.

At this time of year, we start to plan our Open Days for new prospective parents and will be hosting 3 opportunities this year for parents to view both St Thomas’ and WHJS. This will be a great opportunity for any parent looking for a school place in all year groups to come and visit both our schools and see what our federation can offer. If you know anyone who might be interested, these dates are; 7th October, 13th October and 21st October. We will of course ensure that all our current parents are provided opportunities throughout the year to visit our schools. All of these events will be managed carefully with any covid safety requirements.

With so much going on, I do hope that you can see we are well on our journey to develop and enhance the opportunity for all children at The Schools of Woolton Hill. Best wishes

Sarah Rolls – Chair Governors of Schools of Woolton Hill Federation
