Storm Eunice

Dear Parents

You may be aware that the MET Office have issued a Weather Warning for tonight and tomorrow. Severe weather is expected with strong winds gusting up to 80mph. This warning is in place from 3am Friday morning, until 21.00 Friday evening.

I am writing to inform you of the contingency plans that I am putting in place. The school would only close as a last resort; and only if the site becomes unsafe due to the severe conditions. If this is necessary we would inform you at around 7.30am via text message and with posts on the website and the school's Facebook.

I urge all families to take care on their Journey to school. Trees might have fallen and roads may be blocked. To help, I will keep registers open until 10am tomorrow. This will enable families to make a slower and safer journey to school.

We would still be able to teach pupils in the event of power cuts, however this situation would create other difficulties. Without electricity, it is unlikely that the kitchen would be able to provide meals. If the power goes down over night, then we would ask all pupils to bring a packed lunch to school It is also a good idea for all children to have a coat with them in case the heating is affected.

I will keep you updated with any further developments.
