World Book Day

Here at the Schools of Woolton Hill Federation, we absolutely love reading. We were delighted to able to celebrate World Book Day’s 25th Anniversary today at both Woolton Hill Junior School and at St Thomas’.

Because it was World Book Day’s 25th Birthday – the theme for our celebrations was ‘party’.

Year 3 and 4 enjoyed an Alice in Wonderland inspired Tea Party and their outfits all matched the theme. In Year 5 and 6, many children decided to come in dressed as Colour Monsters or as Mr Men or Little Miss’. Mr Small’s top hat was particularly impressive!

One of the real highlights of the day was being able to invite the children of St Thomas’ Infants school to join the children of Woolton Hill Junior School in a (federation first!) joint assembly. Children from the junior school then had an opportunity to read short stories to the visiting infants.

We have thoroughly enjoyed seeing the children’s fantastic costumes, celebrating a joint love of books and reading and hope that the children are further inspired to pick up a book and start reading!
